Join NAFP and Guardian Saints as they explore the importance of cyber security within the fostering sector. We will explain how the National Cyber Security Centre’s Cyber Essentials (CE) program can help you align to this recognised standard. Whether you are looking to achieve your first certification or renew an existing one, this session will be invaluable in gaining an insight into the core requirements.

Cyber Essentials is a baseline standard that demonstrates that your business operates with cyber security and data protection as key considerations for your suppliers, customers and regulator. Local authorities increasingly request Cyber Essentials certification information in tendering documents.

There are some significant changes for applicants this year as the focus is sharpened to zoom in on cloud services and authentication. So if you use cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS or SaaS or don’t know what they are, this session will help you understand what you need to know in order to complete your certification with confidence. No one can guarantee you a ‘pass’ in Cyber Essentials but you will learn how to interpret the questions and answer them in the context of your technical set-up.

Excited? In this session, you will learn:

  • Why Cyber Security is important to your business
  • What you need to do to make your business cyber secure
  • Do you have to update your devices and what is in scope?
  • Are Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) a cyber risk?
  • What advantage does certification provide for fostering providers?
  • What are the key CE requirements?
  • Latest CE version updates and changes
  • Are your cloud services securely implemented (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)?
  • Do your IT Services partner or MSP contracts consider Cyber Security requirements?
  • When are you ready for your Cyber Essentials application?

To help with the interactive Q&A we will use Slido (slido.com). The app is on the App and Play stores and is easy to use with fully anonymous participation.

The session is suitable for senior management, registered managers and, of course, your tech guru! We look forward to seeing you there.
