Following on from a helpful practice discussion between panel members and fostering practitioners, this interactive conference will provide an opportunity for panel chairs/members and practitioners within fostering agencies to focus on four differing themes.

In our time together, we will encourage discussions between panel members and fostering practitioners. After an introduction to each of the four discussion topics, we will spend time in workshops to open up the discussion. The workshops highlighted below provide a chance to talk through process, practice and learnings to ensure that the independent fostering panel offers an effective quality assurance role and the fostering agency consider the value of recommendations from the panel, ensuring safeguarding is the priority and outcomes are the best they can be for children, carers and those that work within the organisation.

Together we will consider…

  • The process of reviewing foster carers and the decision-making for what is presented at the fostering panel
  • Being a robust panel - accessing supporting information to make informed recommendations with reasons
  • Remit of the fostering panel (quality assurance role) - how recommendations are considered and communicated
  • Terms of foster carers - expectations from the agency to evidence suitable terms and panel asking curious questions

This event will be hosted on Zoom - accessibility; delegates will be emailed details of how to join a few days beforehand.
