Are you a social worker or senior manager in a fostering agency that has the role of managing allegations?

This online seminar is designed to offer you an opportunity to explore how you manage this difficult process effectively, to limit the anxiety, worry and frustration this often brings for foster carers and staff managing this process.

Together we’ll explore:

  • What is an allegation?
  • The process for managing allegations
  • The importance of effective support and communication
  • The relevant regulations, standards and guidance
  • The role of the fostering panel
  • The reflective learnings for all concerned/involved

In this seminar, we will consider prevention strategies, how we recognise the strains within the family home and consider best supportive practice in a preventative way as apposed to crisis managing. We will think about our “duty of care” to foster carers, whilst understanding the importance of the investigation and keeping children safe, transparency, honesty and partnership working is crucial to manage this process hopefully in a timely way.

And finally, whatever the outcome of the allegation, it is essential that the fostering agency conducts a lessons learnt, reflective overview, lessons learnt in relation to the agency and how this is demonstrated in ongoing service development.
