This resource library is intended to support our members in finding guidance relating to many subject areas that impact your work as a fostering provider. Below is a contents page of different subject areas and within each you will find three headings in relation to each topic:

Legislation/national guidance - NAFP will provide a link to the most up-to-date information that we are aware of in relation to the subject area. The legislation and national guidance section will provide all you need to know to ensure you are adhering to the law, regulations and standards that are set in an attempt to keep children safer whilst offering protection for your agency and the carers within it. It is, however, unusual for the legislation and guidance to be prescriptive and tell you exactly “how to do it”, so this is where you need to consider what this means for your agency.

NAFP practice guidance - in response to the first section and from ongoing discussions in members meetings, regular practice sessions, and Google groups that are available to members, NAFP will provide guidance and support in relation to how the above can be considered and interpreted. The guidance created is led by our members and is available in this section for future reference.

Members' good practice - NAFP members offer a wealth of experience and knowledge that is readily shared in our forums. There is a real willingness to share practice, resources, and useful learning tools with each other. This section will hold the many recommendations you offer. NAFP has not verified nor endorsed any of the material, but clearly, members have felt supported by accessing the wider learning opportunities and have given permission for it to be shared to ensure “best practice”.
